BOD Ramadhan Message

Asalamu alaikum beloved members of the community,

With a joyous heart your family at Islamic Society of Frederick would like to wish you a Ramadan Mubarak. As we feel the emptiness of the prayer halls in the bottom of our hearts, we are grateful of Allah’s blessing that he has bestowed upon us. We have been given another opportunity to repent in this blessed month where the doors of Jannah are wide open. InshaAllah, we will begin our quest for forgiveness and gratitude to the all mighty starting on the Friday April 24, 2020 (night of Thursday 23rd, 2020). It may not be as what we have been accustomed too but remember every living thing worships in its own way. Ramadan may come with a little challenge this year, but we have been given the opportunity to self-reflect, for the betterment of our souls.

I speak for all my colleagues when I say we miss your smiles, but with the same breath we ask Allah for your safety and good health. InshaAllah, your ISF board and volunteers are working around the clock to find alternate ways to stay connected with the ISF community. Please keep checking your email and website [isfmd.org] for upcoming online events. InshaAllah we are planning online lectures, kids’ and youth activities, adult Quran classes, and we will also provide platforms for online gathering for Islamic story telling.

In all our family festivities we need to remember our less fortunate brother and sisters. We need to make an extra effort to donate as much as possible to make sure others can fast with the comfort of food, housing, and welfare. Prophet Mohamd (Peace be upon him) said: “Whoever gives food for a fasting person to break his fast, he will have a reward like theirs, without that detracting from their reward in the slightest.” InshaAllah, ISF expects to be a mirror image of its Islamic people, as we collect Zakah, it would be our pious responsibility to ensure it is given to the needy in accordance with the Islamic regulations.

If you are of those deserving brothers or sisters, we encourage you to contact our main office at the number provided below. We ensure you that Zakat records are kept in confidential within the decision makers, and not made public.

We also understand the economical impact would be felt much after the pandemic has gone away. To that we encourage our families in Frederick to use this time to learn a new skill, plan for the future, and be cognizant of the changing environment. The ISF board and its members are available to support mentoring efforts for all ages. Together we are stronger, no matter what the future may hold. Reach out to ISF main office to volunteer your services.

Please follow the link to print Ramadan 2020 Calendar. Once again, our sincerest congratulation on the blessing of Ramadan, may we all gain full benefits of this holy month. *~*Ameen*~*
